This training offers a deep dive into the Competency Guidelines for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Infant Mental Health Endorsement® through the exploration of an infant mental health case study. Presenters will share how each scope of practice plays a role in working with and supporting an infant and their caregivers, highlighting how the Competency Guidelines® can act as a “map” for all professionals involved in the life of a young child to utilize core infant mental health principles and practices in their work. Additionally, presenters will define how Reflective Supervision/Consultation (RSC) enhances program quality and supports professionals, caregivers, and infants to feel seen, held, and supported.

After this training, participants will:

  • Identify a professional at each Endorsement category (promotion, prevention, intervention, leadership) and explore the professional’s role/responsibilities within the infant mental health field.

  • Demonstrate how the Competency Guidelines supports a team of professionals serving a young child and their family better coordinate support and care.

  • Increase understanding of the parallel process and how RSC can be used to improve program quality and practice within programs supporting pregnant people, infants, toddlers, young children and their families.

Presenters: Kelly Sipotz, LMSW, IMH-E® and Ashley McCormick, LMSW, IECMH-E®
