The North Carolina Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Association (NCIMHA) believes that the infant and early childhood workforce benefits from access to reflective opportunities to explore their work, including reflective supervision/consultation (RSC). Growing evidence suggests that the practice of RSC increases the reflective capacities of professionals and decreases the experience of burnout. To meet the growing need for the workforce to have access to qualified providers of RSC, NCIMHA is excited to host this annual Reflective Supervision Learning Collaborative—to support NC professionals in growing their skill and capacity to provide RSC to others within their organization!

    You’re In, What’s Next?

If you have been accepted into this learning opportunity you should have received an email containing information about the training, as well as any discount codes you may need to utilize to access scholarships or agency funding from our funders during the registration process. Register here using the codes provided and get ready to attend our in person training in Durham on October 3-4, 2024. We are excited to meet you there!

Please note: Though this event is public, there was an application process utilized to access a limited number of spots. Please do not register if you have not received a welcome email confirming you have been selected or your registration will be deleted/refunded.

Things are changing quickly at the federal and state level, creating fear and uncertainty for children, families, and those of us who support them. In response, NCIMHA has created Stronger Together: Creating Connections for Early Childhood as an open, monthly, virtual space co-facilitated by members of NCIMHA community and staff. We seek to provide a welcoming, nurturing space where you can connect with colleagues who are also supporting young children and families.

Safety & Stretch Leadership®: A Framework for Transforming Relationships & Results

What if leadership wasn’t about having all the answers or holding a specific title, but about your ability to create and influence environments where people feel safe enough to take risks and stretched enough to grow? In this interactive session, you will explore the art and science of showing up with both compassion and challenge in professional relationships. You’ll learn a practical framework for creating environments where people feel seen, valued, and supported for who they are—while also fostering growth through clear expectations, accountability, and meaningful challenges that lead to impactful results. Whether you are providing direct services, supporting colleagues, or supervising teams, you’ll leave with actionable insights and strategies you can apply right away to transform your leadership for lasting impact.

    Learning Objectives
By the end of this engaging webinar, you will be able to:

    1. Reflect on your own experiences in environments that foster safety and stretch, and explore how these experiences inform your leadership approach.
    2. Understand how principles from infant and early childhood development, brain science, attachment theory, psychological safety, and emotional intelligence inform the Safety & Stretch Leadership® framework, and how it applies to creating supportive, growth-oriented environments at work.
    3. Learn tangible strategies to create environments of safety and stretch, driving both strong relationships and meaningful results.

*Webinar will offer simultaneous interpretation offered by Cenzontle Language Justice Cooperative

She began her career providing direct services in community settings, later transitioning into leadership where she developed evidence-based early childhood treatment programs within a system of care. Advancing into executive leadership with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, Heather led statewide initiatives, drove data-driven program outcomes, fostered team development, and strengthened cross-system collaboration to improve services for children, young adults, and families.

Heather believes that leaders set the tone for their teams, creating ripples that inspire growth or hinder potential in and beyond the organization. Post Conference Session Information

We’re excited this year to offer a post conference session. This virtual session, offered by The Center for Cultural Intelligence, will cover the four capabilities of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) – Drive, Knowledge, Strategy, and Action. It will also delve into how CQ can be applied to predict improved communication, teamwork, and team collaboration among healthcare, early education professionals, social workers and other child welfare professionals. This workshop will explore the synergy between the Diversity Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families and Cultural Intelligence and how CQ can be leveraged to help those working in child mental welfare realize the vision of working with culturally diverse families. Professionals will be equipped with practical next steps to support responsive care–ultimately strengthening the early childhood mental health workforce in North Carolina.

This session will take place on Wednesday, September 24th at 1pm. If you cannot attend live, a recording of the 1 hour event will be emailed to all registrants.
